Welcome to another exciting school year! This is my first year at Mankato East and I am thrilled to be here!
My name is Tim Meegan. I am married and have two boys, ages 11 and 6. In my spare time I enjoy camping, hiking, reading, and playing history/strategy video games.
I am a national board certified teacher with 12 years' experience teaching social studies at Roosevelt High School in Chicago. I have taught World History, AP Human Geography, Latin American history, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Civics in the past. I obtained my BA in History at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL, and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at National Louis University. I am particularly interested in human geography, social justice, and local politics.
Learning social studies is important for three reasons. Understanding our world is one step in the process of self discovery. In an increasingly complex and interconnected global society, the skills and knowledge acquired in social studies are critical for success. Finally, social studies is key to effective citizenship and self-advocacy. I think all of us owe our children a world that is better than the one we inherited from our parents.
Here is my class schedule. Students, I am available for extra help 6th, 8th, lunch, or before/after school by appointment. Parents please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting you and working with you this year. Let's make it a great one!

"A leader is best
When people barely know that he exists.
Of a good leader, who talks little,
When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, They will say,
